No-Mad is an Indian lifestyle brand, offering handmade home wares and décor accessories of untouched quality, inspired by everyday India. Timeless, authentic products that cross time, always in line with the Indian way of life.
Our greatest ideas are born out of a sense of dissatisfaction.
Entrepreneur Anuj Kothari often experienced a gaping void that he yearned to fill. He ached for a venture that would reflect his own authentic voice and his love for the arts. Years of searching finally made him realize that the void within him was nothing but a calling to fill the need-gap that existed in the market.
At the time, no lifestyle brand was looking towards India for inspiration. A reservoir of art and creativity lay untapped within our eclectic land yet we were pointing our gaze outwards. Artisans, weavers, craftsmen were sitting on centuries of tradition, looking for a home to display and monetise their craft. Unfortunately, they had nowhere to go.
Thus was born No-Mad, in the year 2014. The brand that started with a pure intention of bringing forward the India story garnered immediate attention, winning the EDIDA Award for Best Textile and Best Furniture 2014 in its first year itself. What followed were other honors and accolades such as EDIDA Award for Best Table Top in 2015, International Debut at Cote Sud Fair, France, NY Now 2016 & London Design Fair 2016. Four years later, Kothari felt motivated to open his first store in the iconic Mangaldas Market – home to quirky, out-of-the box products that were Made by India and Made in India. A go-to for timeless products that were reimagined to suit contemporary lifestyle.
Nine years on, No-Mad has opened yet another store – this time in a neighborhood of great historical significance, Horniman Circle, Fort. The store will serve as a material library of sorts where people can come and browse home textiles, decor accessories, furniture, stationary, gifting options and a lot more over a cup of coffee.
Kothari’s vision for the future is ambitious. He wants to expand his portfolio of products across categories extending the concept to service based industries such as cafes, boutique hotels and the likes. That said, his true dream is to see No-Mad on the global map, and by sheer extension of that dream, to see the unique artistic voice of India echo in the whole world.
